December 11, 2008, Lebanon, PA
. After completing the circuit of film festivals in the far corners of the state, PA Historic Dramas will be releasing the Blue Eyed Six documentary film about the nefarious mountain gang from Greenpoint known as The Blue Eyed Six, according to the film’s producer, Bruce Kreider. “The Blue Eyed Six documentary film DVD will be available at The Lebanon Farmers Market beginning Saturday December 20 (the actors will available) and at The Lebanon County Historical Society, 924 Cumberland Street, Lebanon on Sunday the 21st,” Kreider said. It will also be available at Gametraders Club, 809 E. Main Street, Annville, on Saturday the 20th, as well. The cost of the DVD is $19.95 and will include behind the scenes extras like still photographs, a theatrical trailer and audio commentary from the director, producers and the editor.
The Blue Eyed Six documentary film, which sold out the Allen Theater in Annville in May and September of 2007, stirred curious audiences in Erie, Pittsburgh and the Poconos. “We couldn’t release it until the festivals were done, said twin Brian.
The Blue Eyed Six is perhaps the most famous story to come out of Lebanon’s past, certainly, the most infamous. The case became the “lynch pin”, no pun intended, that changed the insurance law nationally for life insurance, so a person had to be related in order to qualify as an insurer.
Six mountain rogues were arrested after an old man they had insured floated to the surface of Indiantown Creek on a cold December night of the 7th in1878. In 1880, five of the six were hanged in the jail yard of the Lebanon County Prison, now the site of The Lebanon Farmer’s Market,” noted PA Historic Dramas board member, Michael S. Lazorcik.
“Many people have contacted us asking when this will be available, so, now is the time,” said Bruce.
